Dentures have long been among the most common methods of replacing missing teeth. Although that has not changed, there is significantly less emphasis on the art of denture making. Dr. David Koepsel has been creating beautiful smiles with dentures for 37 years. At the time he attended dental school, dentures were a heavy part of the curriculum. Today, there isn’t a lot of focus on dentures, so new dentists don’t come out of dental school with the same level of knowledge.

Creating dentures that fit well can be tricky. Depending on the situation, they can go good or bad. We do a lot of dentures here, and the uppers work great most of the time. Lower dentures are more problematic. In the past, we only charged for the upper denture, because there was no way of providing the patient with a lower denture that stayed in place well. With the advent of dental implants, we now have a way of keeping lower dentures in place, making them comfortable and functional.

Of course, our number one goal is helping our patients keep their natural teeth. This eliminates the need for dentures. However, if your teeth are already gone, you need some way of replacing them. Dentures are the answer. We are proud of the quality of our dentures, which have been called “drop dead gorgeous.” We use one of the best labs in the country to ensure this superior quality.

As you and your gums adjust to the new appliances, there may be a few minor things to work out. Unlike some offices, we won’t nickel and dime you for adjustments. Our dentures include six months of free follow-up care.

We strongly recommend getting at least a couple of implants to stabilize lower dentures. If they are loose and sliding around when you are trying to talk or eat, they aren’t very functional. Some people have experienced the embarrassment of having dentures fly out of their mouths while speaking or laughing. Thankfully, we can now avoid that situation with implants.
