You have nothing to fear from dental implant surgery at East Wichita Dentist

Dental Implant Surgery Wichita - Replacing Smiles WichitaA surgery is generally thought of as a medical treatment that involves an incision. By that definition, placement of a dental implant is a surgery. A tiny cylinder is placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Bone fuses securely with the biocompatible material of the implant, forming a solid base for a porcelain crown. Multiple implants provide incredible stability for a dental bridge or denture. We are fortunate to live in a time when such an amazing restoration option is available. Yet some people are still nervous about the procedure. Dr. David Koepsel assures patients that they have nothing to fear from dental implant surgery at East Wichita Dentist. Here are just a few of the reasons.

Brief – Each case is different, but a routine dental implant surgery, without the need for sinus lift or bone graft, typically takes about an hour – comparable to most other, non-surgical, dental procedures.

Painless – Usually only local anesthetic, a numbing agent, is needed for the surgery. If a patient is very anxious about the procedure or the injection, we can provide nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation for a calm, positive experience.

Heals quickly – The incision is tiny; approximately 3.0mm to a maximum of 8.0mm (in unusual cases). For reference, three millimeters are barely over a tenth of an inch. A healing cap protects the implant, and you may have a few small sutures to close the flap. Stitches come out in seven to ten days.

Predictable results – The most critical parts of dental implant surgery are performed in advance. The entire procedure is pre-planned with the aid of advanced diagnostics including digital and 3D x-rays, and computer modeling. There is very little chance of a surprise once you are in the chair, or following the surgery.

Great success rate – The team at East Wichita Dentist has been placing dental implants for more than 30 years. That experience, combined with hundreds of combined hours of training in implant techniques and technologies, results in a phenomenal success rate – more than 98 percent for non-smokers.

If you are missing a tooth, it is vitally important for the appearance of your smile and the health of your mouth to have it replaced. A dental implant may be a terrific solution. If you have dentures that slip, wobble, or keep you from eating foods you love, dental implants can dramatically improve stability. Don't let uneasiness about the idea of dental implant surgery keep you from enjoying improved quality of life. Call East Wichita Dentist at 316-215-7152 for a gentle procedure and predictable results.
