Very pleased with this practice! All of the staff were extremely caring and Dr. Koepsel was wonderful. I plan to make this my home dental office! Couldn't be happier with the care I received.
When gum disease is well controlled, you can keep your gums healthy for a very long time. Many people with this condition keep their natural teeth for life, with good treatment. On the other hand, if you let gum disease get a foothold, it can quickly deteriorate to the point where you lose your teeth.
An important part of treatment is patient education. We will show you how to care for and clean your teeth and gums at home for better results with less dental visits. We are here as advocates, and to provide adjunct treatment, but the success or failure depends on the patient's cooperation.
The greatest weapon available in the fight against gum disease is laser technology. We have three different lasers in our office to provide customized treatment in a variety of situations. A laser can sterilize the little trough around your teeth where disease resides. It is a very effective and comfortable way to eliminate infection. In the past, gum disease treatment relied on drastic measures such as surgery or caustic chemicals. Today, we have a much more conservative approach.
In many cases, we even use systemic medications, because bacteria from your mouth can travel through the entire body. Once bacteria are in your bloodstream, they can affect everything. Recent studies have shown a link between gum disease and conditions like heart failure and diabetes. Gum disease can be a debilitating condition, possibly contributing to fatal complications. Smoking increases your risk of getting gum disease and makes treatment more difficult.
We have a very effective regimen. We assess every patient for gum disease, at every visit. If there are any problems, we want to start treatment immediately. If you ignore it, it won't go away. Without treatment, it may progress to the point that the only option is removing your teeth. Don't wait to get treatment. Such an amazing dental office! The staff is so nice and welcoming. I felt right at home. They used sedation dentistry on me and it took all the fear from me and it didn't even hurt. I have never met a dental office that is so easy to talk to! Love them
