Wichita Dentist explains, what are dental implants?

Sometimes, in a patient's life, the unexpected happens. Trauma, disease, or extraction may leave a patient missing a tooth in his or her smile. This can cause an emotional reaction as well as a negative aesthetic change to a patient’s smile. The patient may feel as though he or she can no longer laugh or smile because of a large space from the missing tooth. Because of this, he or she may lose self-confidence and self-esteem. The professional dental team at East Wichita Dentist wants to make sure that patients feel good about themselves and the way they look, which is why they offer a wide variety of cosmetic procedures and treatments, including dental implants.

What are dental implants?
Wichita patients will be able to use dental implants to restore missing natural teeth. These titanium posts are surgically placed into the jawbone and are restored with a full crown on top to function and look like a natural tooth. This is one of the most permanent, long-lasting ways to restore a smile.

What other cosmetic treatments can be used to replace a missing tooth?
Other treatments include partial dentures and dental bridges. If a patient has sufficient bone structure and wants a permanent replacement for his or her missing tooth, a dental implant may be best.

What types of dental implants are available?
At East Wichita Dentist, we have two types of dental implants available for our patients to consider, traditional dental implants and mini dental implants. Traditional dental implants are placed, and then they take several weeks to heal and allow bone growth to hold the implant securely. They require healthy bone to place. For those who have less bone structure, or are placing implants for loose denture retention, mini dental implants may be better as they can be utilized immediately.

How does a patient know if he or she is a candidate for dental implants?
The team at East Wichita Dentist will be able to examine a patient and discuss his or her concerns to better understand the situation and determine whether a dental implant may be the best solution. Patients can call the practice to schedule this initial consultation and examination to get started on improving their smiles!

Such an amazing dental office! The staff is so nice and welcoming. I felt right at home. They used sedation dentistry on me and it took all the fear from me and it didn't even hurt. I have never met a dental office that is so easy to talk to! Love them
